Multi award-winning actress Cherry Jones, an out lesbian, just landed the Emmy for her work as 24's first female president, but that's not what had the lesbian community aTwitter! The question on the collective minds of gay girls everywhere who love a good Hollywood lesbian relationship success story was, "Where was Sarah Paulson? Did they break up? Did Cherry forget to thank her?"
Now Cherry has announced, via that stalwart and upstanding entertainment tome Us Magazine that she and longtime girlfriend, the love Ms. Paulson, are officially splitsville.
Speculation that the two were calling it quits started when Jones did not include Paulson in her Emmy acceptance speech while receiving her award for outstanding dramatic supporting actress for her role as the President on FOX's 24. Nor was Paulson by her side, as she had been so famously at previous awards' shows.
Jones told Us she wanted to thank her family, "my two dear agents who've helped me so much these last couple of decades and the amazing people I've been working with on that show."
However, this is not a regular Hollywood ending and bad blood is nowhere to be found as Jones reveals that the women have ended their relationship amicably and still remain the best of friends.
"We're not together anymore, but we're still dearest of friends," she said Thursday at the Broadway opening night of The Royal Family in New York City.
