An Ode to Grandpa
Posted Monday, October 19, 2009 at 12:10 AM

This is my first post, and I am sorry it is a bit depressing.
I just finished writing and playing a piece for my grandpa. I had to put some background stuff in to cover up my sobs, and I think this might be the last piece I write for quite a while. He was a good man and I miss him terribly. This piece is basically an interpretation of his life. He fought in wars, had magnificent integrity, and died in his sleep surrounded by family. I just hate that he had Alzheimer's....

If you still have your grandpa, I hope you enjoy the time you have and if you do not, maybe this song can comfort you.

To listen to the song, just head to my blog (link is below).

I can't thank you enough!!! I have also lost my grandpa, consider myself the scientific type and am very close to the dreaded 30. I don't comment on much and tend to stay in my own lil' world but I had to tell you that this was the single most moving composition I've ever had the pleasure of hearing!!! Thank you sooooo much for writing it!!! As for the rest of your aspirations... you are not alone!! You're a beautiful writer and for the sake of humanity I hope many more take a look at your posts!!! Again, THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm sorry for your loss as well. Unfortunately, it often takes tragedy to inspire us. Sometimes writing music (or a blog) is like moving in a circle, but I know it was pretty raw and choppy, but thanks for the compliment. I love mezzo soprano music, so I often write for such a voice.

In accordance with this forum, in addition to some opera music (a hazard I picked up in Europe), I do like other forms of music and my ipod is full of simple blues songs. I'm also a fan of electronic and if you haven't heard of Owl City, I suggest you download "Fireflies." Though, my favorite is "Hot Air Balloon."

Again Thanks...
