I Can't Think Straight

Recently, while in London, I watched the 8 award-winning film "I Can't Think Straight". It is a FANTASTIC, MUST OWN FILM. The filmmaker, Shamim Sarif, has the amazing gift to simultaneously be an exceptional movie director, screenwriter, and novelist; a talent rarely found. In "I Can't Think Straight" Shamim Sarif has, with integrity, exposed the soft underbelly of two ancient traditions and cultures (Indian and Palestinian); yet, accompanied with hilarity, political punches, mesmeric songs, portrayal of tender love between two young women, and all paced at a tempo that makes the audience want more. Shamim Sarif's direction of Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth is par excellence, and their acting brilliant. The Soundtrack with compositions by Raiomond Mizra and songs by Nadine Khouri and Leonie Casanovais incredible! It is disappointing that "I Can?t Think Straight" has been censored in India.

Shamim Sarif lives in London with her life-partner, Hanan Kattan, and they have jointly established Enlightenment Productions Ltd.. Hanan Kattan is also the Producer of "I Can't Think Straight".

I wish Shamim Sarif and Hanan Kattan the best of everything and hope to watch their other film, "The World Unseen", very soon.

RE: 500 Days of Summer

I am kind of a hopeless romantic - Always hoping, always getting less than I deserve.

No seriously - I believe there might be several soulmates out there for you - I like the distinction between several and semi because semi makes it seem like they didn't count - and I have been lucky so far to count at least three on my hand that I know were real - just waiting for the one that sticks!!!

And re: ZD's eyes - seriously, they are so blue and I totally have a crush on her - I loved her kind of faux 40s look in the movie.

RE: 500 Days of Summer

Hmmmmmm, well it made me think that there are a lot of semitrue loves out there. People that you date and you think are "the one" up until...well, the moment the moment you are no longer dating and you are left there wondering--where/when did it all go wrong?

I do believe in soulmates--- but I think you have to go through a few near hits in order to find her.

I did find myself to be a lot like the character though, ie: if you meet someone that likes a band you like and that band is not very popular suddenly -- gasp, this must be love.

What do you think of the soulmate thing? AAAAND more importantly do you believe they superimpose a translucent coloring to make Zoe Deschanel's eyes extra extra blue?

i am not familiar with this criterion-version? am i missing out on something that i should know about?

i also noticed the use of gay as a pejorative - it was hard not to - however, i thought it wasn't unrealistic as we hear that sort of thing all the time ...

what did the film make you think about true love/soulmates?

RE: 500 Days of Summer

Saw the movie- thought it was very cute and different. BUTTTTTT, I was annoyed by one thing: the UNNECESSAREY references by two characters (the lead guy and his work buddy) where they negatively refer to somethings as being "gay" and "so gay". Which I remember hearing and thinking "why do they have to use THAT word?"

When the movie comes out on DVD I will make sure I buy the Reese317 edited-Criterion collection where those words are replaced with words more neutral and unoffensive. ie: That is so "wack".

Funny.. I went and seen it with my gay friend..he was a little squirmish about the blood and such. But I think what was the biggest kick was that he is half german half jewish. I asked him if he was in a love hate relationship with himself now.. haha.
It was great. GREAT movie. LOVED IT.

One Tree Hill: Season 6 DVD Gets Release Date

One Tree Hill fans, mark your calendars! Warner Home Video has finally set the release date of One Tree Hill: The Complete Sixth Season DVD on August 25. The seven-disc set will include all 24 episodes from the most recent season, and will most likely feature a bunch of bonus materials and commentaries, though details about the extras have not yet been disclosed.
The sixth season of One Tree Hill features the progression of the relationship of Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) as they plan their wedding and deal with Peyton's dangerous pregnancy. Brooke (Sophia Bush), on the other hand, takes in a foster child, Sam, and comes to blows with her mother for control of her company. At the same time, a major storyline follows Lucas as his book is optioned for a film; Mouth (Lee Norris) and Millie (Lisa Goldstein) work on their relationship while Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) attempt to reach for their individual dreams.

Guest characters for this season include Julian Baker (Austin Nichols), Lindsey Strauss (Michaela McManus), Kelsey Chow (GiGi Silveri), Marine Derek Sommers (Ernest Waddell), Sam Walker (Ashley Rickards), Mick Wolf (John Doe), Carrie (Torrey DeVitto), Mia Catalano (Kate Voegele), Chase Adams (Stephen Coletti) and Victoria Davis (Daphne Zuniga), among others.

Since Murray and Burton are reportedly not returning for season 7, season 6 marks the last time the main cast of the series are all together ---so the DVD set should be a pretty good buy for One Tree Hill fans.

Meanwhile, One Tree Hill is currently casting three new prominent roles to fill the void for season 7. These include Quinn, Haley's heartbroken older sister, Alexis, a party girl and model for Clothes Over Bros, and Clayton, a handsome sports agent who works alongside Nathan.

RE: Scrubs Season 9 Seems Set

The last two episodes of SCRUBS are to a small handful of important people. ABC is nicely putting our penultimate episode on Tuesday before the hour long finale Wednesday. I think fans will be really happy with the last episode - I'm really proud of it.
It looks like we might get to do another season of SCRUBS, but next week still marks the end as we know it. I say this because when the news broke thatSCRUBS might be back I read a lot of nice things, but also was treated to a lot of "It'll suck!", "Oh, no!", "Let it die!", "You'll ruin it's legacy!", type stuff. I even went on Joel Keller's TV SQUAD blog and went after him a bit (all in fun, I like Joel). See, here are my issues/problems with those responses:
How does anyone know it'll suck? Look, I love television and am very aware of shows that have gone on too long. In many ways, I felt SCRUBS was ready to end last year but the writer's strike and NBC screwed that up. I've always said that if the show moves forward, it would have to be new - like Frasier was to Cheers (which, by the way, I still would've watched if it was called "AFTERCHEERS", or "Cheers; the pompous guy from the bar"). I would never just pick up next year with different characters/actors and move forward as if nothing happened. Nor, as many have suggested, would next year be a show called "The Interns", in which all the new characters we introduced are the stars (though I really liked Eliza Coupe a lot).

CBS renews "Cold Case" for seventh season

CBS on Sunday renewed the veteran crime drama "Cold Case 1-5," which had been facing cancellation, and was close to bringing back "Rules of Engagement," possibly again for midseason.

Over the past few months, "Case" had been in a horse race with fellow crime show "Without a Trace 1-8" for a spot on next season's schedule. "Case" is in its sixth season, and "Trace" in its seventh.

Both series posted ratings upticks this month, "Cold Case 1-5" with an episode featuring Pearl Jam tunes.

As of Sunday, the prospects for "Trace" didn't look good, though the series was still in consideration for a possible midseason order. Also not looking good to return as of Sunday was veteran CBS drama "The Unit."

Meanwhile, it's shaping to be another strong pilot pickup season for Jerry Bruckheimer, who produces both "Cold Case 1-5" and "Without a Trace 1-8."

After one of his two pilots, "The Forgotten," was picked up to series at ABC, the other, CBS' medical drama "Miami Trauma," was given the green light by the network to begin staffing.

The move, considered a precursor to a series order, follows approvals for CBS' drama pilots "Three Rivers," "The Good Wife," the "NCIS 1-4" spinoff and "U.S. Attorney."

If all five are picked up to series, CBS would have two medical dramas ("Trauma" and "Rivers") and two legal dramas ("Wife" and "Attorney") on the schedule next season.
